Ice House –
(Harrisonburg, VA)
Working with local developers, Engineering Solutions worked with two different architectural firms to complete the two separate buildings rehabilitated in conformance with tax credit guidelines. Services included structural engineering for an existing building in a floodplain. On the north side, Engineering Solutions worked with Blue Ridge Architects and Harman Construction in a design build capacity to streamline the construction process and provide a new open-office atmosphere for James Madison University’s Public Affairs, Communication and Marketing, Outreach & Engagement, Small Business Development Center, Shenandoah Valley Technology Council, Technology Transfer, and the Institute for Certified Professional Managers, as well as several classroom and event spaces.
The south side’s architect of record was Thomas Clayton of Frazier and Associates. The south side building is a mixed use project that currently houses: Pale Fire Brewing Co., Black Sheep Coffee, Hugo Kohl, Pure Eats, Ice House Studios, Evans Law Group, The Yellow Button, The Collins Center, Shenandoah Valley Organic, and the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Investment Board, as well as Ice House Apartments.
