UVA JAG School Shelter –
(Charlottesville, VA)
We worked with UVA’s in-house design group to create a new outdoor classroom for the Judge Advocate General (JAG) program at UVA. The project was unique structurally because we had to maintain a very thin profile deck and had no walls or other obstructions between the columns. The lateral system was also unique as a cantilever column system in one access and a steel moment frame on the opposing access. The chimney-like masonry obelisk at the side of pavilion is a free standing structure and structurally isolated from the pavilion.
