The seasons are changing, but we sent summer off in style at our Happy Hour in Charlottesville. We always look forward to the opportunity to catch up with our clients and express our appreciation, but this Happy Hour was especially significant for us as we partnered with the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) to raise money for neurofibromatosis (NF) research. Proceeds of the event were donated to CTF.
“Giving back is important to us,” said Brian Koerner, founder of Engineering Solutions. “After one of our team members shared her family’s story with NF, we knew we wanted to get involved. Community service is one of our top priorities, and by combining a good cause with our traditional happy hour event, we were able to make a big impact.”
Valerie Hill, structural engineer with Engineering Solutions, shared her family’s NF story on the blog last month. At that time, we launched our fundraiser that culminated at the event. At Happy Hour, we were honored to hear more stories from members of CTF, including Lynne Black and Connie Sorman.
Guests who donated were entered in a raffle giveaway with prizes from Engineering Solutions and CTF. The grand prize winner took home two tickets to this year’s Battle of the Bands, hosted by the Building Goodness Foundation in Charlottesville, in addition to other swag items.
The Happy Hour was held at Random Row Brewing Co. and they generously donated $1 of every beer sold at the event to CTF. By the end of the evening, we raised more than $700, adding to our grand total of $1,625! With an original goal of $1,000, we were thrilled to surpass that number with just a few weeks of fundraising.
Thank you to everyone who came out to say hi, have a drink, and show their support for CTF at Happy Hour. It was a great send-off to summer and start to fall. Cheers!
