When did you know you wanted to be a structural engineer? 

When I was younger I thought that I wanted to be an architect, but as I learned more about it I realized that I was more interested in structural engineering.

What is your typical day at work?

It varies depending on what projects are going on. I can be out in the field taking measurements or back in the office checking calculations. I also do some modeling and drafting on the computer.

What is the best part about your job?

I enjoy the satisfaction of seeing projects completed and knowing I had a part in making it happen.

What are some of the challenges in your job?

Figuring out solutions to problems that are possible to build and economically viable for the client.

What is one of the coolest projects you’ve worked on for Engineering Solutions?

Keswick Hunt Club is an old building being renovated. Steel frames are going to be built around the existing structure to reinforce it and preserve the interior appearance.

What is your favorite Core Value and how do you live it out?

I believe innovation in all aspects of life is extremely important. Different problems require different approaches to be solved. This applies to challenges in work and in life.

If you had to give one piece of advice for working with a structural engineer, what would it be?

The way things have been done in the past is not necessarily correct.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy being active by playing basketball and going to the gym. I also like doing things outdoors like rock climbing and snowboarding. I have played the violin my entire life.

Tell us about your family.

I have an older and younger brother as well as a very large extended family.

Fun fact about yourself?

I have played on stage at Carnegie Hall.

What is your favorite restaurant?

My favorite restaurant is The Yorkshire in Manassas, VA. It is a local diner that my parents have been going to since before I was born.
