Engineering Solutions would like to welcome Daniel Rohrer (left) and Matthew McCumber (right) to our team. They will be our interns for the summer of 2017 at our Harrisonburg office. Over the summer, our interns are expected to perform a wide range of tasks, such as drafting, basic engineering design, site visits, and calculations. They will be working directly with other engineers in the office, in addition to our professional engineers on staff. Our goal is to give our interns hands on experience with design, drafting, and delivering construction documents. We require our interns to be pursuing a civil engineering degree (with a focus in structural engineering). We also encourage experience with drafting programs such as AutoCAD or Revit.

Daniel Rohrer

Daniel is studying Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech where he will be graduating May of 2018. After graduation, he plans to move to Harrisonburg, unless he chooses to pursue a graduate level degree for Civil Engineering. Daniel’s favorite thing about structural engineering is “how we can design and construct such massive structures as precisely as we do and know that they will still be safe”. In his free time, you can probably find Daniel outdoors, probably fishing or hunting.

Matthew McCumber

Matthew joins us from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) where he is studying Civil Engineering Technology. He will be graduating May of 2018. At RIT, he is actively involved in the Steel Bridge Team. Matthew’s favorite thing about structural engineering is “taking a concept and turning it into a tangible design”. In his free time, Matthew enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and mountain biking.

Welcome to the team, Daniel and Matthew!
