Core (noun): the central or most important part of something.

The end of the year is a time of reflection for many people, including us at Engineering Solutions. I’m reminded of how much we’ve grown this year and the lessons we’ve learned, and I’m proud of how we have continued to evolve.

Looking back on this year, I’ve been thinking of an especially pivotal day back in July. We had our all-team meeting in Charlottesville, and we spent a good portion of our time deciding on our Core Values as a company. We started with a list of 15 or more, but by the end of the afternoon, we had decided on three: Innovation, Integrity, and Community.

By no means are these the only values we operate by, but they are the essence of what we do and who we are. Every day, these are the standards we set for ourselves and our work. While each one is imperative to our process, there is one that stands out to me, especially this holiday season: Community.

Community is all of you: our towns, our friends, our clients, our families. You make it possible to do what we do. As we head into our 14th year of business, I see the growth of our business not only as a team, but by extension to everyone around us. This year, we have been able to give back to the community more than ever. In 2017, Engineering Solutions donated over $40,000 in cash and services to charities such as:

Innovation may make the world move forward, but giving back to our community makes the world go around. In a year full of highs and lows, time spent in service to those around us were always a highlight, and we plan on doing even more next year.
