At Engineering Solutions, community is at the core of who we are and what we do. For us, being part of a community is about more than where we are located – it’s about finding ways to give back and support the people in the places we call home. From our “Happy Hour with a Cause” events to donating time and services, it’s an honor to team up with fellow organizations that are so passionate about what they do that they’ve found a way to make it bigger than themselves.

“We’ve grown a lot over the years,” said Brian Koerner, owner of Engineering Solutions. “We wouldn’t be who we are today without the community around us, and it’s important to us to pay it forward by doing what we can to support other local organizations who share similar values.”

This year, one of the ways we’re giving back is by joining RuntheMountain as one of the sponsors for their 4th annual 10ACIOUS trail run. This 10-mile race will take place Sunday, November 12th on the Western Slope Trails of Massanutten Resort.

“I got involved in trail running about seven years ago,” Mark Klosinksi, Race Director, said. “For me, it was a relief from running on the roads and the scenery was so much better. But there were no short-distance trail runs in the local area. That’s where this race began.”

Massanutten Resorts owns the property where the race is held and Shenandoah Bicycle Coalition builds and maintains the Western Slope Trails. All donations from the race go toward beneficiaries such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, Skyline Literacy, and Anicira.

“Over the years that RuntheMountain has been in existence, we have donated close to $10,000 to charitable organizations,” Mark said.

In addition to the 10ACIOUS race, they also held a 50K and a 25K race last year, which benefited the Reading Program at Elkton Elementary School.

“When I found out about this race, I wanted to get involved,” said Brian, who shares Mark’s passion for the outdoors and giving back. “It’s a great way to support causes we believe in, and it’s no secret that our team of engineers has a history with mountain biking trails.”

Mark wants to continue expanding the race options in the future.

“We are already planning next year’s events,” he said. “We hope to bring runners and mountain bikers together by introducing a duathlon, a running and biking event.”
